We are looking for the next generation of exceptional people to become part of our team and help us to delight our customers. Technicians are vital to the success of our business. Our Technicians play a pivotal role in engagement with our service team to assist in providing clear information, direct to our customers and encouraging their continued loyalty. This is a varied role where you will work with all departments bringing a friendly and energetic approach to your daily work. Every day is different as a vehicle technician, so the role will vary.

Some duties on a day to day basis may include:

Service and Maintenance; Completing internal built service plans, manufacturer service schedules and following service check sheets to complete high quality servicing to all vehicle makes and models. Using our pioneering Electronic Vehicle Health Check (EVHC) digital platform to complete video reports and identifying faults before they occur. Helping to deliver visual reports direct to our customers through the interface technology. Communicating with the service team throughout the time that the client(s) vehicle is with us.

Technician; Completion of required vehicle repairs including friction, steering, suspension systems, transmission and engine repairs including timing belt/ chain replacement(s), clutch/ hydraulic and drive-in components diagnosis and repair/ replacement.

Diagnostic; A understanding of electrical system components, diagnostic processes and operational test methods is advantageous in this developing role. Full training is provided for the wide range of diagnostic equipment, technical tooling and technical information network used.

Administration; Completion of relevant paperwork for customer service records, recording vehicle faults and using job sheets and digital methods to report issues on the internal team network.

Team work; Liaison with all the relevant departments including service and workshop manager to ensure we deliver an amazing customer experience.

TRAINING PROVIDED:

Training will be delivered using a combination of face-to-face, one-to-one in our conference room and with real-time processes. Our investment into automotive training provides the opportunity for release days at state-of-the-art training centres around the country and access to online e-learning training modules.

This is a fully rounded training experience where you will build life skills that last and gain both industry qualifications and brand certifications. On successful completion of your probation, you will receive access to the following:

• BOSCH Diagnostic Technician 15 modules

• Brand specific certifications Desired skills

• IMI Certified Training

• MOT Testing Certification

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Our ideal Automotive Technician will be a confident and approachable problem solver who can deliver excellent communication, workmanship, timekeeping with dedication to each task. We are looking for people who are passionate about our industry and our brand.

THE NUMBERS:

Hours of work;

Monday > Friday 8:00am > 5:30pm

Closed Bank Holidays

Closed Weekends

Salary will range from £30,000 > £55,000pa (DOE)

Performance Bonus: £1,800 - £7,200pa

Holiday: 30 Days (Including Bank Holidays)

BTE Automotive Ltd is a proud, family-owned business with a legacy spanning over three decades and three generations. Founded in 1990 by Roy and David Parker, the business has remained in the family, with Roy’s son David and grandson Barry now at the helm. This generational continuity reflects our deep-rooted values, long-standing commitment to quality, and genuine care for our customers and community.

Over the years, BTE has evolved from an early generation tyre and exhaust centre into a comprehensive, modern automotive service and diagnostics facility. In 2015, after 25 years of trading as 'Bordon Tyre and Exhaust', the family directors made the strategic decision to rebrand as BTE Automotive Ltd, a name that better represents the breadth and professionalism of our services today.

"The original trading name felt one-dimensional and no longer reflected the scope and quality of the services we now provide."

Our experienced and structured team is led by General Manager Paul Mullard, who brings over 40 years of industry knowledge. Mikki Coombes, who joined in a valeting role, has progressed into the position of Service Manager, showing our commitment to nurturing in-house talent. Amy, our Service Advisor, has over a decade of experience, including time with premium marques such as Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar Land Rover.

In 2020, we launched BTE Autoparts under Paul’s leadership, further extending our capabilities and strengthening our offering. Today, we operate across two well-equipped sites with more than 10 vehicle bays, cutting-edge diagnostic tools, and cloud-based DOIP (Diagnostics over Internet Protocol) systems to support even the most modern vehicles.

In 2005, a devastating fire temporarily forced us to cease trading for nearly 15 months. Thanks to the loyalty of our team and customers, we returned stronger in 2007 with a fully refurbished facility. Since then, we have continued to invest in our people and our tools, with a focus on staying ahead of the curve in an ever-changing industry.

We are proud partners of Bosch, Castrol, and Pirelli, and benefit from their technical support and expertise. As members of the Alliance Autocentre, Motor Codes, Trust My Garage, and the Retail Motor Industry Federation, our customers can rely on us for high standards in both service and compliance.

Our technicians collectively hold over 100 years of automotive experience, including factory training from brands such as Jaguar, Vauxhall, POrsche, and BMW. We offer a wide range of servicing and repairs that do not invalidate your manufacturer warranty, and all replacement parts come with a minimum 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty.
