Supplied vehicle components notice

BTE have set a clear directive to NOT install or accept to undertake any repair or service with client supplied components.

By accepting a repair with BTE, we have assumed responsibility for procuring the correct vehicle components, which includes the acceptance of the quality of the parts we provide. In order for BTE to not be held responsible for the supply of inferior or poor quality components with no place of origin, we have taken the stance to not accept this liability.

Are there any exceptions?

In some rare cases, where performance enhancements are required or requested by the client, it is at our discretion to accept these work(s). We appreciate and understand that not all components are available through our procurement processes.

If a component is supplied direct from a manufacturer, with a supplied purchase invoice, this allows us to ensure and quantify the place of origin.

In any circumstance where an expectation may be granted, this is exclusive to each repair and is aligned to our business terms and conditions. Any component that is supplied incorrectly, may incur additional labour charges/ costs and will not be protected by our standard minimum 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty.

Legal implications

The main reason for our hard line on this, is quite simply the legal repercussions we could be exposed to if a customer returns having experienced vehicle issues as a result of the repair we have completed.

Although there is some room for interpretation under the law, it is our obligation (as the expert) to not proceed with the fitment if we believe the parts supplied to be unfit for purpose or of unknown quality.

BTE could still be successfully sued even if a signed declaration relinquishes any warranty claims between us and you (our customer).
