Castrol is investing in a new high-profile television advertising campaign

Castrol is investing in a new high-profile television advertising campaign, entitled ‘Performance Makers’, to promote its Castrol EDGE automotive lubricants and celebrate mechanics whose expertise and commitment keeps people on the road.

Leading the campaign will be a new 30-second Castrol EDGE television commercial, aired for the first time in the UK on 18 October.

A 10-second edit will also run, and both commercials will be shown by leading broadcasters including ITV, Channel 4 and Sky.

Ed Savage, Castrol distributor business manager for the UK and Ireland, said: “Castrol has a proud record of innovative and highly memorable television campaigns.

“Many will remember the iconic ‘Liquid Engineering’ television commercials that first aired way back in the 1980s.

“Now forty years on, we’re bringing our most advanced lubricant, Castrol EDGE, right into people’s homes with a highly engaging new television campaign, and key to our new strategy is to champion our collaboration with workshops across the UK.”

Castrol’s new advertisement follows the brand’s successful National Mechanics’ Month campaign, highlighting the skills and commitment of local independent workshops and their mechanics that has kept communities across the UK moving during the pandemic.

The public were invited to nominate their favourite local mechanic or workshop to give them the credit they deserved. The winning mechanics secured a selection of prizes, including a virtual F1 experience.

Castrol EDGE has been designed to unlock the very edge of performance of engines.

The intense pressures inside modern engines cause friction that can waste up to 10% of engine performance.

Castrol EDGE uses innovative Fluid TITANIUM Technology that can withstand these pressures and reduce friction.

Castrol EDGE with Fluid TITANIUM Technology physically transforms its structure – becoming stiffer at points of extreme pressure to keep metal apart and reduce friction.

When the pressure subsides, the oil reverts to its free-flowing state. Stronger under pressure, Castrol EDGE with Fluid TITANIUM Technology helps reduce performance-robbing friction.
